3.Boil the water and distillery mezcal tour

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 413 reviews · 8 hours (approx.) Top rated

Review of Oaxaca’s Hierve el Agua and mezcal tour, with hiking, mineral pools, distillery tasting, transport tips, and honest drawbacks.

“Great tour, with very knowledgeable guides. The hike was easy—we didn’t hire a local guide for that part so walked on our own. The pools looked nice and refreshing, but the weather was a bit too cold for us to fully swim so we just dipped our feet in after the hike. Others in our tour group were braver and went for a dip though. The mezcal tasting was generous—we had 10-14 samples and learned a lot about the distillation process along the way.”

“Carmen was amazing and our group was really fun. Even the roadside cantina stop turned into a party. We visited 3 distilleries and tasted some very excellent tequila. The company did a great job of communicating with us before the trip and our pickup and drop off was flawless. The only thing I would say is that it’s more like a 12 hour day than a 6 hour day if you are coming from GDL cento”
